Strasburg issues a one-out walk in the seventh, pitches to one more batter, uncorks a wild pitch, but gets the batter. With a runner on third and two outs, Dusty Baker removes Strasburg from the game with a no-hitter intact. Strasburg threw 109 pitches, 70 for strikes, walking four and striking out five. Just coming off the DL, the Nationals don’t want to push him despite the no-hitter. The bullpen will try to get the last seven outs without allowing a hit. The Nationals lead the Reds 9-0.
Update: Blake Treinen comes on and gets a ground ball to first to end the inning. The Nationals staff has a no-hitter through seven innings.
Update: Danny Espinosa homers again, this time in the bottom of the seventh. He’s four for four on the day with two home runs, and 15 RBI in this series against the Reds. Anthony Rendon homered in the previous at bat. The Nationals lead 11-0. This will allow the bullpen to go after hitters as they try to preserve the no-hitter.
