Lackey Loses a Pitch and His Cool

With Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez at the plate with two outs, John Lackey throws a two strike pitch that found the strike zone, but the umpire calls it a ball. Lackey is upset, but the umpire lets him have his say from the mound. Martinez then lines a two-out single that scores the lead runner, giving the Cardinals a 2-1 lead over the Cubs. As Lackey runs to back up the plate, he is yelling at the home plate umpire, who tosses him from the game. Wilson Contreras, the Cubs catcher, then takes up the argument and he gets tossed. The Cubs trail with a new battery in the game in the top of the fifth inning.
