Do Run Run

The majors saw four team score double digits in runs on Saturday. July 7th came in at 11.2 runs per game, the second highest day of the season when at least 10 games were played (11.5 R/G on May 3rd), and the highest scoring day of the season with a full slate of games. The Nationals beat the Marlins 18-4 as Mark Reynolds collected 10 RBI after a walk-off home run the night before. In his last six at bats he has two singles, three home runs, and a double. The Diamondbacks followed up that game with a 20-5 drubbing of the Padres. Arizona hit four doubles and five home runs in the game, but no triples.

In the AL, Houston beat the White Sox 12-6, as Alex Bregman continued his hot hitting. Thirteen of his last 21 hits have gone for extra bases. Finally, the Red Sox turned a close game into a rout late, scoring 11 runs in the last three innings to beat Kansas City 15-4. Thirteen walks issued by the Royals staff did not help, Andrew Benintendi had a double, a homer, and four walks in six trips to the plate.
