Oakland and Houston finish up their four game series with Trevor Cahill taking on Charlie Morton. Cahill has little to show for his 2.77 ERA, coming into the game with a 1-2 record in eight starts. He’s had problems on the road with a 5.66 ERA in 20 2/3 innings, three of his four home runs allowed coming away. Morton is 8-1 with a 2.66 ERA at home, despite allowing eight of his 11 home runs in Houston.
Luis Severino faces Corey Kluber as the Yankees visit the Indians. Severino goes for his 15 win, and is in a great position to equal Ron Guidry‘s 25 wins on the 40th anniversary of that feat. Severino leads the majors in two of the three Cy Young predictor categories, and is just a hair behind Chris Sale in the third. Kluber is 7-1 at home with a 1.43 ERA. He struck out 70 and walked eight in 69 home innings.
The reeling Nationals send Max Scherzer against the Mets in New York and Steven Matz. Scherzer is 1-4 in his last six starts, despite a 3.15 ERA. He has allowed seven home runs in that span in just 40 innings. Matz allowed 11 home runs at home this season in just 49 2/3 innings.
