Games of the Day

Yefry Ramirez gets the call for the Orioles against the Phillies and Aaron Nola. Ramirez makes his second start and third appearance of his major league career, and so far so good. In 9 1/3 innings, he struck out 9, walked two, and allowed one home run, good for a 2.89 ERA. Nola, with a win, would tie Jon Lester for most in the NL with 11. Nola allowed just six home runs in 109 innings this season.

The late game features Miles Mikolas against Patrick Corbin as the Cardinals play the Diamondbacks. After three years away from MLB, Mikolas returned with a vengeance, posting a 2.61 ERA in 103 1/3 innings so far. He is all about control, allowing just 13 walks this season, and holding batters to a .229 BA. Corbin’s strikeout rate zoomed up this season, 11.4 K per 9 IP versus his career average of 8.3 K per 9 IP. He added a cut fastball this season, and it appears to be working.

Enjoy!
