Mr. August

Gary Sanchez hit 45 home runs in his career, and 20 of them have come in August. Yes, it’s an unfair comparison since Sanchez played more in August than any other month. I will speculate, however, that he took longer to recover from his early season injury than just his time on the disabled list. Most of his damage for the month of August, 2017, came in the last 13 games.

It could also be that Sanchez finally readjusted to the league. After his big August in 2016, he fell back a bit, just as Aaron Judge regressed after his hot start this season. This was supposed to be a development year for both players. If both adjust to the league, the Yankees could harken back to the days of Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle next season.
