Jake Arrieta left his Monday afternoon start against Pittsburgh with a leg injury:
The Cubs, 9-4 during a 20-game stretch without a day off, lost the services of ace 14-game winner Jake Arrieta with one out in the bottom of the third inning while trailing 3-0. Arrieta suffered an apparent injury to his right hamstring while delivering a pitch to Josh Bell with one out and was in obvious pain as he tried to deliver a warmup pitch.
Stay tuned for updates. Arrieta turned his season around in the second half, and with Jon Lester having some trouble, the Cubs starting pitching suddenly looks a little thin.
