Games of the Day

Cleveland travels to Tampa Bay as Danny Salazar faces Blake Snell. At 4.32, Salazar is posting the highest single season ERA of his career. Despite striking out a ton of batters, his opponents make good contact when they hit the ball. That puts Salazar’s BABIP at a high .327, and 12 home runs allowed does not help. Snell has yet to record a win in 14 starts as he tries to keep the Rays close in the wild card race. He’s walked 41 batters in 72 1/3 innings. Opponents are hitting just .219 with runners on base, but there are always runners on base.

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks play the rubber game of their series with Yu Darvish taking on Anthony Banda. Darvish made an impressive debut for the Dodgers, holding the Mets scoreless for seven inning, walking one and striking out 10. Rookie Banda makes his third MLB start. His 12 strikeouts and one home run in 11 2/3 innings is good, and his four walks are okay. Those rates are in line with his AAA performance.

Enjoy!
