Games of the Day

The Yankees are looking up at the Blue Jays as Toronto visits New York with Aaron Sanchez facing CC Sabathia. Since the start of 2017, Sanchez has a high walk rate and a low strikeout rate. He has not pitched much, however. Both of those should help the high walk, high strikeout Yankees hitters. Sabathia returns from the disabled list after a sore hip shelved him. He allowed three home runs in his first nine innings, all solo shots.

The Pirates visit the Phillies, and both teams are off to good starts. Jameson Taillon takes on Jake Arrieta. Taillon comes into the game win a 0.89 ERA. He keeps batters off base with only nine hits and five walks allowed in 20 1/3 innings. Arrieta still seems to be looking for his control as he walked four and struck out six in his first 10 2/3 innings.

Finally, Eduardo Rodriguez tries to keep Boston’s hot start going as he faces the Angels and Nick Tropeano. Rodriguez is blowing away batters early this season, with 15 K in 9 2/3 innings. Despite the high K rate, he allowed 10 hits. Tropeano pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings in his first start. He owns a 4.48 career ERA in Anaheim.

Enjoy!
