Games of the Day

The Reds try again for their first win with Jim Riggleman at the helm as Homer Bailey faces the Cardinals and Carlos Martinez. Bailey pitched solidly so far, although he is not the strikeout pitcher he once was. He walked just eight batters in 23 2/3 innings. Martinez walked a ton of batters so far, but with 30 K in 25 2/3 innings, he still has a K/BB better than 2.0. He also allowed just one home run.

Two sub-2.00 pitchers take the mound in Oakland as Chris Sale faces Sean Manaea. Sale has yet to get much benefit from the Red Sox offense, as he is just 1-0 in four starts despite a 1.23 ERA. Sale has yet to go deep in a game, and Boston tends to score late. Manaea showed great control so far this season with just four walks in 27 2/3 innings. He also allowed four home runs, all solo shots. The opposition is 1 for 20 with runners in scoring position.

Finally, the Nationals and Dodgers offer another excellent pitching duel as Stephen Strasburg faces Hyun-Jin Ryu. Strasburg shut down right-handed batters so far this season, holding them to a .108/.150/.189 slash line. Ryu is off to a good start in terms of his strikeout rate, with 19 K in 15 2/3 innings.

Enjoy!
