Aaron Judge hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning Monday night. That broke a 3-3 tie between the Yankees and the Angels in Anaheim, and New York went on to win 5-3. Judge went two for four in the game with a walk and two strikeouts. He continues to rake in June, with multiple hits in five of his 11 games, and a .429/.547/.881 slash line. His BABIP is .591 for the month. His batting average when not striking out is .667.
I was watching the Yankees broadcast Sunday, and they were discussing Matt Holliday‘s influence on Judge. Holliday convinced Judge to take the same approach at the plate, even with two strikes. That combined with Judge’s improved selectivity means he’s batting extremely well with two strikes. He seems to be getting better as the season wears on, and one gets the feeling he’s on the verge of an historic season.
