The Rays placed Matt Andriese on the disabled list:
The Tampa Bay Rays will place starting pitcher Matt Andriese on the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday because of a right hip stress reaction.
The right-hander lasted one inning against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday. He underwent an MRI on Sunday and was expecting to go back on the DL, which he was on earlier this month due to a groin strain.
Also, Lance McCullers hits the Houston disabled list:
The Houston Astros have placed right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. on the 10-day disabled list because of lower back discomfort, the team told reporters Monday.
McCullers, whose move is retroactive to Friday, joins Dallas Keuchel, Collin McHugh and Charlie Morton as Astros starters currently on the disabled list.
It’s nice have a big lead so pitchers can heal. McCullers pitched extremely well his last time out, so this may be the Astros being extra cautious. One nice thing about the 10-day DL is that you can allow a pitcher to miss a start without hurting your roster.
