Games of the Day

The Red Sox and Yankees continue their AL East series with Drew Pomeranz facing Luis Severino. Pomeranz has not recorded a loss in his last ten starts. He is 5-0 with a 2.24 ERA in that span, allowing just four home runs in 60 1/3 innings. That includes a no-decision against the Yankees in which he allowed four runs in six innings, his worst start of the stretch. Severino tries to continue his six-game tear, 4-0 with a 1.36 ERA. He struck out 48 and walked 11 in his last 39 2/3 innings.

As the red hot Cardinals breathe down their division neck, the Cubs try to win a second game in Arizona. Jon Lester takes on Patrick Corbin. Lester pitched better since the All-Star break, as he cut his walks down. His ERA is 3.03 in that time period, versus 4.25 before the break. Corbin’s ERA is over three and a half run better at home this season, 3.14 versus 6.79. It’s mostly power, as he allowed a .404 slugging percentage at home, .622 on the road.

Enjoy!
