The Indians placed Andrew Miller on the disabled list due to his knee:
Miller will undergo an MRI on his right knee on Thursday in Cleveland. The team’s initial diagnosis is patellar tendinitis, an ailment he has been pitching through for a few weeks.
“I need to be pitching better than I have,” Miller said Wednesday, “and this certainly isn’t helping, so it seemed like the right thing to do, based on the information we have and what we think is going to happen.”
The Indians used Miller much more regularly this season than they did in the 2016 post season, getting the bulk of his work in the eighth inning. His ability to step into any situation if the Indians get to the post-season, means it’s worth letting him rest so he is 100% down the stretch and into October.
