Depleted Battery Pole

Matthew Cerrone at MetsBlog looks in detail at the Mets options as both their catchers go down with injuries. It is much more difficult to find depth at the position. If two outfielders go down, the minor league players will likely handle the job okay for a couple of weeks. Most teams have a good prospect at that position. A catcher has to come in handle a pitching staff, in addition to his offensive and defensive responsibilities. It’s a good learning experience, especially with the Mets staff, but if a prospect comes up, he’ll be thrown into the fire.
