If two outfielders go down, the minor league players will likely handle the job okay for a couple of weeks. Most teams have a good prospect at that position. A catcher has to come in handle a pitching staff, in addition to his offensive and defensive responsibilities. It’s a good learning experience, especially with the Mets staff, but if a prospect comes up, he’ll be thrown into the fire.
