Sam Gaviglio tries to continue the great start to his MLB career as he leads the Mariners against the Twins and Ervin Santana. Gaviglio’s three true outcomes are not great, although his walk rate is very good. He allowed five of six home runs with the bases empty, and pitched very well with runners on base. Santana’s 2.20 ERA is third best in the AL this year. He’s holding the opposition to an impressive .241 OBP.
Milwaukee and St. Louis continue their important NL Central series as Matt Garza faces Mike Leake. Garza’s inning this season were limited by injury, but he’s pitched better on the road. All six home runs he allowed came at home. Leake is stingy with hits and walks, as he allowed a .233 BA and a .272 OBP so far this season.
Finally, Michael Pineda and Matt Shoemaker square off as the Yankees battle the Angels. Opponents hit Pineda like an MVP on the road. He’s allowed a .308/.362/.567 slash line away, as nine of his 13 home runs allowed came away. Shoemaker benefitted from good run support, the Angels scoring six or more runs in eight of his 13 starts.
Enjoy!
