The AL East 87s

The Orioles beat the Yankees and the Red Sox beat the Rays by identical scored of 8-7. Both teams overcame early deficits to win the games late. The Yankees led 5-0 at the end of one inning, but the game was tied at seven at the end of seven innings. Craig Gentry knocked in the winning run in the 12th.

The Yankees can pretty much blame the loss on Giancarlo Stanton, 0 for 7 in the game with five strikeouts. He came to the plate with nine men on base and left them all there.

The Rays led 7-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Matt Andriese and Alex Colome combined to allow seven hits and six runs, while Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect ninth for the save. The six Boston runs all came with two outs, capped by an Andrew Benintendi double. The Red Sox did lose Xander Bogaerts to an injury, which probably hurts the team down the road.
