Games of the Day

The Astros try to prevent the Athletics from achieving a first place tie in the AL West as Dallas Keuchel faces Trevor Cahill. Keuchel, in most aspects, pitched well against the A’s this season, allowing 12 hits and two walks in 15 innings. He allowed three doubles and three home runs, however, two of those home runs coming with a man on first. That’s four runs that came without a man in scoring position a big reason Keuchel’s ERA is 4.20 against Oakland this year. Cahill is even worse, with a 5.59 ERA against the Astros in two starts. He allowed a .333 BA with runners in scoring position.

The Mets send Jacob deGrom against Jake Arrieta in Philadelphia. The Mets have finally started giving the NL ERA leader some support, as they scored eight runs in each of deGrom’s last two starts. Arrieta pitched well in Philadelphia this season, holding opponents to a .228/.296/.360 slash line.

The Cardinals can move into second place in the NL Central with a win over Milwaukee. Wade Miley visits Miles Mikolas. Miley cut down on home runs allowed so far this season. In the previous two years, he ranked 11th in the majors in highest HR per 9 IP. He allowed two home runs in 40 1/3 innings in 2018. Mikolas owns the fourth lowest BB per 9 IP in the majors this season.

Enjoy!
