The Morales of the Story

Kendrys Morales homered in his sixth straight game Saturday afternoon:

Morales is the 29th player to homer in at least six games in a row in Major League Baseball history, moving into a tie with Jose Cruz Jr. for the longest streak in franchise history with a two-run homer in the fourth inning off Phillies right-hander Nick Pivetta. He also moved into a tie with St. Louis’ Matt Carpenter for the most consecutive games with a home run this season.

The record is eight straight games with a home run held by Dale Long (who hit 10 home runs in his streak), Don Mattingly, and Ken Griffey, Jr. (both hit eight home runs).

Morales has an impressive streak, coming into today’s game 10 for 20 with six home runs.
