Games of the Day

The Brewers and Braves Play the rubber game of their series with Chase Anderson facing Sean Newcomb. Anderson allowed 23 home runs so far this season, tied for fourth most in the major leagues. They have not hurt that much, however, as 18 of them were solo shots. Newcomb pitched well at home this season, posting a 2.86 ERA in nine starts. Only four of his 13 homer runs allowed came in Atlanta.

Oakland is just 3 1/2 games out of first place in the AL West as they send Trevor Cahill against the Angels and Taylor Cole. Cahill does a good job of keeping the ball in the park this season, with just six home runs allowed in 75 innings. Cole makes the first start of his MLB career after nine relief appearances. In his eight games this season, he struck out 19 batters in 17 innings.

Finally, ESPN presents a great match-up as Max Scherzer leads the Nationals against the Cubs and Cole Hamels. Scherzer leads the Cy Young Trackers. He has the wins and the ERA, the only thing to hold against him is his team not in a playoff slot. Hamels allowed two runs, one earned, since joining the Cubs. He walked three and struck out 11 in 11 innings with his new team, not allowing a home run. He is tied with Anderson above for fourth most home runs allowed in the majors this season.

Enjoy!
