Red Sox Take Control

The Red Sox beat the Yankees 4-1 for the second day in a row to run their lead up to 8 1/2 games (seven in the AFILC). While teams have come back from that kind of deficit before, Boston seems to have everything going right for them. The Yankees pitching seems to be a bit of a mess, while Boston got two outstanding starts in a row from Rick Porcello and Nathan Eovaldi. On top of that, the wild card doesn’t seem like such a sure thing anymore, as Oakland is four games back and the Mariners are 5 1/2 back. In addition, they play each of those teams three times on the west coast in September. Maybe we can get a three-way tie for the wild card!
