Blackjack

The Athletics beat the Angels 21-3 Thursday afternoon. The Angels scored a run in the top of the third, then the A’s scored 12 unanswered runs. Then Angels scored again before Oakland added nine more. Oakland collected 22 hits, but only seven went for extra bases. The hits were timely as they went 12 for 17 with runners in scoring position.

It’s the fourth game in which a team scored at least 21 runs this season, all since July 26th. It’s the twelfth of the decade as 21 run games have ticked up in the last few years.
