Games of the Day

A potential ALCS match-up between Cy Young Award candidates takes place in Cleveland as Chris Sale leads the Red Sox against Trevor Bauer and the Indians. Injuries have hurt the chances of the two strikeout artists to win the award. If it should go to a pitcher with just over the minimum innings required, Blake Snell would be my choice.

The Giants try play spoilers as they visit the Cardinals. Madison Bumgarner opens the weekend series against John Gant. Bumgarner owns a 5.82 ERA in September thanks to allowing four home runs in seventeen innings. Gant appears to limit hits by pitching around batters, as he’s walked 51 in 107 innings while giving up just 83 hits.

The Rockies visit the Diamondbacks with German Marquez taking on Zack Greinke, both teams needing a win to keep hopes of a playoff slot alive. Marquez owns a 2.94 ERA on the road. Despite good strikeout number home and away, he allowed a .197 BA on the road, a .290 BA at home. Greike owns a 2.43 ERA at home this season, where he allowed just nine of his 28 home runs.

Enjoy!
