The Brewers and Braves continue to push for the playoffs as they battle in Atlanta. Freddy Peralta takes on Kevin Gausman. Peralta is blowing away batters in his rookie season, averaging 11.98 K per nine. In many fewer innings, he ranks with the elite starters in that category. Gausman stays around the plate, with just 34 walks in 129 innings. A lot of those balls around the zone go out of the park, however, as he allowed 21 home runs.
Seattle tries to gain on Houston as Mike Leake faces Gerrit Cole. Leake walked one and struck out 11 in 12 innings against the Astros, but allowed 15 hits and eight runs. Cole has not allowed a home run against the Mariners in 13 2/3 innings, helping him to a 1.32 ERA.
