The Mariners go for their third win in a row against the Astros as Wade LeBlanc takes on Charlie Morton. LeBlanc made four appearances against the Astros this season and got knocked around, allowing 22 hits and 14 runs in 12 1/3 innings. Morton made two starts against the Mariners, walking one and striking out 16 in thirteen innings. That was good for a 1.38 ERA.
Walker Buehler of the Dodgers takes on Kyle Freeland in Colorado. The Diamondbacks and Dodgers come into the day tied for first in the NL West, with the Rockies 2 1/2 games back. Buehler’s ERA is about 2.5 runs higher on the road, thanks to a higher walk rate. Freeland overcame a rough start to the season to go 9-3 with a 2.66 ERA since the start of May.
Finally, Oakland sends Edwin Jackson against the Angels and Tyler Skaggs. Jackson is showing good control this season, walking 14 and striking out 45 in 47 innings. Skaggs pitched 13 1/3 innings in two starts against the A’s this season and has yet to allow a run.
