The Phillies play an afternoon game in Arizona as Vince Velasquez takes on Patrick Corbin. Velasquez dropped his home run rate, allowing 13 this season in 113 2/3 innings. Last year, he allowed 15 home runs in just 72 innings. Corbin did something similar, dropping his HR per 9 IP rate from 1.2 in 2017 to 0.7 in 2018.
The Braves and Nationals continue their series with Mike Foltynewicz facing Tommy Milone. Foltynewicz pitched well against the Nationals, posting a 2.52 ERA. Despite that, he is 2-2 in four starts. He has yet to allow the Nationals a home run in 25 innings. Milone makes his third start of the season. He has yet to walk a batter in 12 innings while striking out 15.
Finally, Clayton Kershaw takes on Mike Fiers as the Dodgers battle the Athletics. Kershaw needs two strikeouts to reach 100, which will give him at least 100 K in all eleven seasons he pitched. Fiers makes his Oakland debut. He walked just 26 batters in 119 innings for the Tigers.
