Hey 19

Blake Snell allowed one hit in seven innings against the Indians Wednesday. The one hit came off the bat of Jose Ramirez and left the park, the only hit for Cleveland to go along with three walks. The Rays win 3-1, and Snell gets credit for his nineteenth win.

Snell’s ERA drops to 2.03, and his BA allowed drops to .183. The Indians did not have an AB with runners in scoring position today. Batters facing Snell have just 110 AB with runners in scoring position, and Snell held those batters to a .091 BA. His low ERA is due to his ability to keep batters out of scoring position, and shutting down hitters the rare times the situation occurs. This is like the great hitter who gets a ton of people on base, and hits for a very high average with runners in scoring position. Those are the years one sees RBI totals above 150.

It’s a great year, and may very well win him a Cy Young.
