Alex Bregman continues to sit atop the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings after drawing a walk Friday night. Moving into second place is Christian Yelich, who homered and walked in a 7-4 Milwaukee victory over the Pirates. Justin Turner takes third place with a single and two walks, while Mike Trout drops to fourth place as he goes 0 for 3 with a walk as the Mariners shut out the Angels 5-0. Paul Goldschmidt rounds out the top five with two doubles against the Astros.
The big news is that Ronald Acuna now ranks sixth. That’s very impressive for a rookie to rise that far that fast. In his last 44 games he owns a .345/.432/.719 slash line with 15 home runs, and 30 of his 59 hits for extra bases. His average hit in that time is a double. He’s a big reason the Braves have run away with the NL East.
