Games of the Day

The Yankees are in the middle of a home stand, but they make a one-day trip to Washington to play a game and a third. On May 15th, the teams were tied at three in the middle of the sixth inning when rain halted play, and then washed out game two of the series. Monday afternoon, the teams will finish the 3-3 tie, then play the second rained out game. The teams play with their current rosters, so anyone not used in the first game can come in for this game, even if they were not on the roster for the first game. Bryce Harper is scheduled to lead-off in the bottom of the sixth.

In the second game, Sonny Gray takes on Erick Fedde. Gray pitched well away from Yankee Stadium this season, allowing just one of his seven home runs and posting a 2.83 ERA. Fedde makes his third start of the season and the sixth of his MLB career. This year, he showed much better control with just two walks in 10 2/3 innings, compared to 8 in 15 1/3 innings in 2017. His ERA is still high at 5.91, but that’s down by 1/3.

The White Sox send Dylan Covey against the Indians and Trevor Bauer. They face each other in consecutive starts, last meeting on June 13. Covey won that game, giving up two runs in seven innings. He walked none and struck out five, but allowed ten hits. Bauer lasted 7 2/3 innings, only gave up four hits while striking out 12, but allowed three runs.

Enjoy!
