Eye on Peralta

Freddy Peralta made his third MLB start Tuesday as he led the Brewers to a 3-2 win over the Pirates. He just turned 22 at the beginning of the month, and showed the ability to miss bats so far, striking out 25 batters in 15 2/3 innings. His second start was poor, as he walked six batters in four innings, but he came back last night to strikeout seven in six innings without allowing a walk. He did not allow a run in his two good starts.

FanGraphs show him throwing a 92 MPH fastball 86% of the time. So he is not especially overpowering. I suspect he he uses his off-speed pitches just when he feels the batter has timed his fastball. It will be nice to see how this youngster progresses.
