The Braves get the day started as they send Anibal Sanchez against J.A. Happ. It’s been tough to get on base against Sanchez this season, as he held the opposition to a .189/.262/.356 slash line. His weakness is the five home runs allowed in his 37 1/3 innings. Happ is the subject of trade speculation as he struck out 94 with just 25 walks in 82 2/3 innings.
In Chicago, Ross Stripling faces Jon Lester as the Dodgers continue their series with the Cubs. Stripling owns a 1.76 ERA, but does not quite have enough innings to qualify for the NL leader board just yet. He’s very good on the road, where only four of his 23 hits have gone for extra bases. Lester allowed 22 extra-base hits this season but only three of those came with runners on. The power against him did little damage this year.
