It took eleven innings but an Anthony Rizzo lead-off home run in the top of that inning ignited a five run frame and the Cubs beat the Brewers 5-2. That puts Chicago in first place in the NL Central. The Brewers stood 35-20 after play on May 28, but are 4-7 since then, while the Cubs went 10-3. The Cubs starting pitching has been outstanding in that time, posting a 2.53 ERA. The Brewers offense scored three runs or less eight times in this stretch, but overall they don’t look too bad because they posted back-to-back 12 run games.
