The Brewers lead the Cubs by 1/2 game as the teams open a series in Milwaukee. Jose Quintana faces Junior Guerra. Quintana walk rate is up. Last season he walked a batter about once every three innings. This year, it’s much closer to one every other inning. Guerra is back to his 2016 form, limiting free passes and keeping the ball in the park.
The Pirates make their way to Arizona as Joe Musgrove takes on Patrick Corbin. Musgrove makes just his fourth start of the season. He walked just five and struck out 17 in 19 innings, helping him to a 1.89 ERA. Corbin allowed ten home runs so far this season. Given his low OBP allowed of .251, one would think most of those homers were solo. In fact, five of the ten came with men on base.
Finally, the Angels take on Seattle in an AL West tilt. Andrew Heaney battles Wade LeBlanc. Heaney has not allowed a home run on the road this season, but he’s allowed a ton of hits to give him a 4.43 ERA away from Anaheim. LeBlanc pitched better in the rotation this year, with a 2.29 ERA as a starter, 4.61 as a reliever.
