There’s a new member of the top five on the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Mike Trout, Freddie Freeman, Jose Ramirez, and J.D. Martinez stay in the top four, but Jean Segura breaks into the fifth slot. The Mariners beat the Red Sox 7-6 Friday night. J.D. Martinez went 2 for 4, while Segura went 2 for 4 with a home run.
Segura is doing all his damage with hits, as he owns a .344 BA and a .365 OBP. He collected 28 extra-base hits, 20 of them doubles.
Trout went three for three with a walk, as the injury depleted Angels beat Oakland 8-4. That gives Trout an eight point lead in the rankings as he continues his quest for possibly the best single season WAR ever.
