Washington leads Philadelphia by 1/2 game in the second wild card as the teams clash at Nationals Park. Zach Eflin takes on Tanner Roark. Eflin upped his strikeout rate this season without losing his control, with 46 Ks in 44 2/3 innings with just 11 walks. Roark pitched into some bad luck as the Nationals scored three runs or less in nine of his appearances.
Seattle moves up the I-95 corridor as Wade LeBlanc takes on the Red Sox and Steven Wright. LeBlanc is 3-0 in nine starts this season with a 2.06 ERA. His low ERA is due mostly to a .184 BA allowed with runners in scoring position. Wright also split time between the mound and the bullpen, with an 0.44 ERA in 20 2/3 innings as a starter.
