Games of the Day

The Rays continue their series with the Yankees as Ryne Stanek takes on Luis Severino. Stanek is one of the Rays openers. He pitched well in both roles. Severino cut his home run rate in half compared to last year and dropped his ERA by 0.7 runs.

The Phillies battle the Brewers with Zach Eflin facing Junior Guerra. Eflin posted low strikeout rates his first two seasons, but is over 9.0 per 9 IP so far in 2018, and his ERA came down. Guerra pitched well on the road this season, allowing just one of his six home runs.

Seattle hosts a battle of 2-0 pitchers as Steven Wright takes on Wade LeBlanc. Wright walked 16 batters in 29 2/3 innings so far this season. He only allowed 15 hits, however, for a 1.21 ERA. He has yet to allow a run as a starter. LeBlanc walked just 14 batters in 54 innings, helping him to a 3.00 ERA. His ERA stands at 2.45 as a starter.

Finally, the Cubs send Kyle Hendricks against the Cardinals and Carlos Martinez. Home runs hurt Hendricks this season, with 13 allowed in 77 2/3 innings. He doesn’t give up many other extra-base hits, however, and nine of those homers were solo shots. Martinez allowed just one home run in 57 2/3 innings, the lowest home run rate in the majors (min. 50 IP).

Enjoy!
