Games of the Day

The Angels take on the Royals in a Monday afternoon make-up game. Tyler Skaggs takes on Brad Keller. Skaggs is healthy and pitching his best season so far, posting a 2.81 ERA. His strikeouts and walks are great, with 86 K in 80 innings with just 24 walks. He’s 5-1 with a 2.27 ERA on the road. Keller makes his fifth start to go with 21 relief appearances. The rookie allowed just one home run in 41 innings, helping him to a 2.63 ERA. Only six of the 39 hits against him went for extra bases.

Gio Gonzalez pitches in his home state as the Nationals face the Rays and Blake Snell. Gonzalez saw his home run rate jump in June. After allowing three home runs through the end of May, he gave up five in 20 1/3 June innings. Snell pitched particularly well at home this season, 4-1 with a 0.96 ERA in 37 1/3 innings.

Finally, the Blue Jays send J.A. Happ against the Astros and Justin Verlander. Both pitcher go for their tenth win of the season. Happ is 3-1 with a 2.55 ERA in six road starts, allowing just three of his 12 home runs. Verlander is having an off month, posting a 3.16 ERA in June. Most pitchers would love an off month like that.

Enjoy!
