Games of the Day

For the third day in a row, the Atros at the Athletics present a great pitching match-up. Despite that, Houston dominated Oakland in the series so far, taking the first two games by a combined score of 19-8. Justin Verlander faces off against Frankie Montas today. Verlander makes entire lineups look like pitcher hitting, allowing a .157/.214/.262 slash line this season. See the Beat the Streak post for my take on Montas.

A battle of first-place like teams takes place in Seattle, with David Price and the Red Sox visiting Felix Hernandez and the Mariners. The Red Sox are one game up on the Yankees, but the Yankees played six fewer games and own the better winning percentage. Price might be pitching better than his 4.00 ERA, his main weakness is walks allowed. He also gets hit harder with men in scoring position, especially for power. Hernandez gets hammered with runners on base, where the power against him in that situation moves base runners a long way.

Enjoy!
