The Red Sox beat the Mariners 2-1 Thursday night. The teams came into the game with the Red Sox sporting a 12-6 record in one-run games, the Mariners 21-9. Seattle’s 30 one-run games were by far the most in the majors. The teams did not disappoint, with a Xander Bogaerts home run being the difference. Boston’s 13-6 (.684) record is currently fourth best in the majors, while the Mariners at 21-10 (.677) are right behind them, fifth. The Yankees at 12-4 (.750) have the best record in the majors, they just don’t play close games often. They beat Tampa Bay 4-3 Thursday night, dropping the Rays to 10-18 in that category.
