Cardinals Bow to Jesus

The Brewers beat the Cardinals 2-1 in an extremely well pitched game on both sides. Junior Guerra allowed three hits in his five innings of work, then the Brewers bullpen tossed four perfect innings. Jack Flaherty took a no-hitter into the seventh, when Jesus Aguilar homered to tie the game at one. That was the only hit Flaherty allowed in seven innings. In the ninth, Aguilar collected just the third hit of the game for the Brewers, but it again was a home run, and Milwaukee walks off with a 2-1 win.

Early in the season Aguilar was hitting well, but not hitting home runs. He hit two in his first 33 games, but only 17 of those were starts. His slash line at that point was .342/.420/.507. Since then, he played 32 games, starting 31 of them, owns a .282/.331/.669 slash line, and hit 14 home runs. Twenty of his 35 hits went for extra bases in that time. He’s really mashing the ball.
