The Mariners placed Robinson Cano on the disabled list:
Cano (quadriceps) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday.
Many speculated that the All-Star second baseman would be able to return in time for Tuesday’s contest, but apparently the Mariners are taking the extra-cautious approach with Cano. The move is retroactive to May 13, however, so he’ll only need to stay on the DL until May 23. Boog Powell was called up to fill his spot on the roster, but look for Taylor Mother to pick up most of the slack at the keystone until Cano is back in action.
This is the point of the 10-day disabled list. Teams can be a little more conservative with injuries and not lose a player for a long period of time.
