Games of the Day

The Rays take on the first place Twins as Chris Archer battles Hector Santiago. Archer’s 3.76 ERA seems high to me given his strike outs, and both his FIP and xFIP are lower. Four of this six home runs allowed, and nine of his 19 extra-base hits allowed have come with men on base, doing the most damage. Santiago pitched better at home this season, with a 3.07 ERA versus 5.23 on the road. His home run and walk rates are much lower in Minnesota.

The Cardinals travel to Colorado to face the first place Rockies, with Carlos Martinez taking the mound against rookie Antonio Senzatela. Martinez is on a nice streak, 3-0 in his last five starts with a 2.31 ERA and eight strikeouts per nine IP. Senzatela allowed seven home runs in 54 innings, but six of those were solo shots. He’s allowing just a .243 BA at home with a .313 OBP.

Enjoy!
