Games of the Day

The Blue Jays and Orioles finish up their three-game series as the first-place Orioles go for a sweep. Marco Estrada takes on Wade Miley. Estrada shows outstanding control this season, striking out 58 and walking just 15 in 55 innings. Miley walked a ton of batters at home this season, 13 in 12 2/3 innings covering three starts. Somehow, he managed to allow just two runs. He has not allowed an extra base hit, and opponents are just 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position at Camden Yards. Seven of his walks came with men on base, so he appears to be effectively pitching around trouble.

Matt Cain faces Adam Wainwright as the Giants battle the Cardinals. Both veterans are trying to work their way back to their former dominance after injuries sapped their abilities. Cain pitched well at home, but all four home runs he allowed came on the road. His ERA away stands at 7.32. Wainwright has been better at home as well, with a 3.86 ERA versus 7.11 on the road.

Finally, Eduardo Rodriguez takes on Andrew Triggs as the Athletics go for a four-game sweep of the Red Sox. Rodriguez owns a 3.05 ERA, having upped his strikeout rate in his third season. Triggs has a reverse platoon split happening this season, as LHB are hitting just .135 against him (10/74), while RHB are 26/98, .265.

Enjoy!
