Two Century Player

Mike Trout doubled in a losing cause, as the Rays beat the Angels 4-0. For Trout, it was the 189th double of his career. He is also approaching 200 home runs, as that total stands at 183. One thing that prevented him from achieving 200 doubles already is his speed, as he hit 39 triples. A slower player might have stopped at second on a lot of those.

Trout came up in on 7/8/2011. Since that date, he ranks 14th in the majors in doubles, second in triples, and fifth in home runs. Not bad for a player who finally entered his baseball prime stretch this season. He belongs to a very small group of players who have at least 100 doubles, 100 home runs, and 15 triples in that time frame.
