Marco Estrada continued his strikeout improvement Sunday afternoon as he K’d 12 Orioles in a 3-1 Toronto win. That matches his career high set on 6/26/2012 when he was with the Brewers. That was his first year pitching mostly as a starter, and the only year as a starter in which his strikeouts were higher than his innings pitched. He’s now struck out 70 in 62 2/3 innings.
The Blue Jays need good pitching performances like this as their offense continues to hover near the bottom of the American League.
