German Marquez pitched a gem against the Cubs Wednesday afternoon. He threw 99 pitches in eight shutout innings as the Rockies win 3-0. In his first 36 2/3 innings, his strikeouts were a little low, and his walks were a little high, and he allowed a .312 BA. On Wednesday, everything worked, as he walked one and struck out eight, allowing just three hits. Even a tired Cubs offense is pretty good, so the Rockies have to hope this will be a turning point for the 22-year-old starter.
