The Yankees try to take three out of four from the Astros in an extremely well pitched series. Masahiro Tanaka faces Lance McCullers, Jr. Tanaka owns a high ERA, 4.37, but that’s 0.4 runs better than his final mark of 2017. His strikeouts and walks are great, but he allowed six home runs in 35 innings. McCuller’s ERA comes in at 3.71, but that’s half a run lower than 2017. He doesn’t put men on base often, allowing a .261 OBP with the bases empty. With men on, he allowed a .311 BA with lots of power. So crack the dam against McCullers, and the dam bursts.
Albert Pujols is two hits away from 3000 as the Angels face the Orioles and Chris Tillman. Roy Oswalt gave up the most hits to Pujols in his regular season career, 28. Albert is 4 for 15 against Tillman with one K. Pujols is signed through the 2021 season, so he can move up quite a ways on the all-time hit list.
