After a day of traveling I arrive home, turn on the Phillies at Nationals which I see is tied at four in the bottom of the ninth. The Nats have the bases loaded and none out, and Wilmer Difo lines a single to center to win the game. I was very disappointed the crowd did not shout, “WILLLLLLLMEEERRRRR!”
It’s even more appropriate given the lyrics to the Hoagy Carmichael song:
So if some day the bases are loaded
and they’re countin’ on you
You just can’t strike out
if you up and shout
Yabba-dabba-dabba-dabba-do!
Difo is 13 for his last 25, and Daniel Murphy might not get his job back.
