Best Batter Today

Jose Ramirez took two walks Sunday while Mike Trout went 0 for 3. That was enough to put Jose Ramirez on top in the Baseball Musings Batter Rankings. Going 0 for 3 carries an extra penalty, since most hitters going 0 for 3 bat near the bottom of the order. Trout went 0 for 3 because it was a low scoring game at home, and he would have led off the bottom of the ninth inning. It was enough to push Ramirez into the top position by 0.08 points.

Mookie Betts, Francisco Lindor, and J.D. Martinez round out the top five, but Red Sox teammate Andrew Benintendi is now just 0.63 points behind Martinez after going two for five with a double and a home run in the 9-3 Boston win over Houston.

Martinez left the game with back spasms.
