The Giants and Nationals play a noon start as Dereck Rodriguez takes on Gio Gonzalez. Rodriguez is 9 1/3 innings into his major league career with mixed results. He owns a 1.93 ERA, but allowed three unearned runs. He struck out 10, but also allowed ten hits. Gonzalez cut way back on his home runs allowed this season and reduced his ERA by nearly 0.7 runs.
The Padres find themselves in last place in the NL West, but only 5 1/2 games out of first place. They send Tyson Ross against the Marlins and Dan Straily. Ross appears to be healthy and to have fixed the problems that plagued him the last two seasons. He improved his K/BB/HR rates to post a 3.31 ERA so far this season. Straily had problems pitching at home this season, with seven walks and three home runs allowed in nine innings.
